1. Must be 18 years of age by July 1, 2012
2. Must be a high school graduate or have a G.E.D. by July 1, 2012
3. Must have one full credit of High School or College Algebra
4. Must be capable of passing physical examination, if accepted.
5. Proof of a valid driver's license.
Applicants shall mail or hand deliver the following information, along with their application, so that they will be in the office of the Canton Electrical Joint Apprentice & Training Committee (J.A.T.C), 3855 Wales Ave NW, Massillon, OH 44646 by 30 days after you picked up your application.
1. Official Transcript: A legible official transcript (to be considered official your transcript must have your school's raised seal or a signature by a school official) of your completed high school courses and grades for the entire four (4) years, showing all completed ATTENDANCE, CLASS STANDINGS and FINAL GRADES, and any other grades you may have had from a state accredited school.
2. A Minimum of three (3) letters of recommendation from anyone other than a relative, dated and signed by the writer of the letter.
3. A copy of your Driver's License.
If you meet the above requirements, by the required date, you will be scheduled to take an aptitude test. It is your obligation to notify the School Board, people from whom you are receiving recommendation, etc., to include your Application Number on whatever information they are submitting on your be half. Selection of apprentices shall be made on the basis of qualification alone and all applicants will be afforded equal opportunity without regard to race, creed, color, sex or national origin.
Once all of the above items are turned in timely, and evidence of a qualifying score on the aptitude test (as prescribed by the Canton Electrical J.A.T.C.) are received, you will be notified of an interview date and time. A physical examination and drug testing will be required for those who are selected to enter the program. The examination will be provided and scheduled by the Canton Electrical J.A.T.C. The placement of apprentices will depend on the economic conditions of the Building Trades in our geographical jurisdiction.
