Qualifications for Telecommunications Apprenticeship

AN INDIVIDUAL WHO CAN SHOW THAT THEY MEET THE CONDITIONS LISTED BELOW, AFTER MAKING APPLICATION FOR APPRENTICESHIP, WILL BE AFFORDED AN ORAL INTERVIEW BY THE CANTON ELECTRICAL J.A.T.C. TELECOMMUNICATIONS SUB-COMMITTEE.

The Canton Electrical Joint Apprenticeship accepts applications from 8:00AM - 11:30AM and from 12:30PM - 4:30PM Monday through Friday during our regular business hours with the exception of Holidays and office staff availability.

The recruitment, selection, employment, and training of apprentices during their apprenticeship shall be without discrimination because of race, color, religion, national origin, or sex. The sponsor will take affirmative action to provide equal opportunity in apprenticeship and will operate the apprenticeship program as required under applicable law and lawful regulations issued thereunder.

Applicants must personally pick up an application.

To meet minimum qualifications for apprenticeship, applicants must:

A. Be a minimum of 18 years of age by July 1st, 2011.

B. Be at least a high school graduate, or have a GED, or have a two-year Associate Degree or higher by July 1st, 2011.

C. Provide an official transcript for high school and post high school education and training. All GED records must be submitted if applicable.

D. Show evidence of successful completion of: One full credit of high school algebra with a passing grade, or one post high school algebra course with a passing grade.

E. Present evidence that they possess a valid driver's license.

F. Provide three letters of recommendation.

G. Complete applicants may be administered a tech Math test by the JATC.

H. Applicants selected from the pool of interviewed applicants are required to take a physical examination and drug test as provided by the JATC.

Applicants who meet all basic requirements will be interviewed by the JATC. Apprentices will be selected in order of their final ranking.
